UCF’s Jayden Williams had just returned a 47-yard interception for a touchdown in his first game back after missing most of last season through injury. But when he sat down for his postgame press conference, his first thought wasn’t the pick-six. Asked how it felt to be back making an impact, Williams began: “First and foremost, I just wanna give all praise and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” He then explained that Jesus knew where he was when he got injured and had helped him through that difficult period. But this moment is bigger than a comeback or a touchdown. Jesus isn’t worthy of our glory only when things are going well. He is Lord in the injury, Lord in the waiting and Lord in the celebration. And ultimately, our greatest reason to praise Him isn’t what He can do for us on a football field - it’s what He has already done for us on the cross. May our first instinct, in success or struggle, be to point back to Jesus.
